Sakshi Tiwari

A Masters in Kathak from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Sakshi Tiwari has trained under Guru Dr. Kavita Thakur of the Lucknow Gharana. Assisting Dr. Thakur at SPICMACAY and Maithili Bhojpuri Academy workshops has added layers to her knowledge of the art form. Sakshi has not only been awarded a scholarship in the field of Kathak by the Ministry of Culture, but she is also a graded artist at Doordarshan.
Sakshi has always been fond of dance, but her desire to learn Kathak began when she couldn't qualify for a school dance competition due to a lack of formal training. Once she started learning at her guru's institute, her passion for the dance form knew no bounds.
She immersed herself in her training. During her M.A. admission, Sakshi found herself at a crossroads, having to choose between Philosophy and Kathak. Even though the idea of dedicating her life to Kathak was daunting, she chose to follow her passion and got her Masters degree in Kathak.
Sakshi believes that Kathak has filled her life with joy. She says that choosing to turn her passion into her profession is the best decision she has made and feels the happiest when she is performing and teaching.
