Rupam’s journey in the world of classical dance is inspiring. When the Prayag Sangeet Samiti organized the All India Music and Dance Competition, she won the first position. She still remembers the plethora of emotions she felt as the result was announced. The motivation to achieve heights kept growing from this day on as she went on to win several other awards at competitions across India, be it the International Kiran Music Event in Madhya Pradesh or the Inter-University Zonal Youth Festival.
Ever since she was a kid, Rupam was inclined towards the art. Even as a kid, one look into the beauty that her eyes are, and you would encounter a sea of stories and emotions. Owing to her deep desire to be an artist, despite graduating in biotechnology, she chose to pursue Bharatnatyam professionally. The moment she made this life altering decision, set precedent for the rest of her life. Since then she has woken up with hope every morning.
Rupam was born in Varanasi, and grew up in the midst of the traditions, culture, colours, and values of the city. These encounters became the foundation on which her adventures in the world dance came to be laid.
