Sangeet Prabhakar in Sarangi from Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad, and Sangeet Bhushan from Prachin Kala Kendra in Chandigarh, Anil is the recipient of the Nat Samrat Theater Music Award, the Rang Visharadh Sammaan and the Bihar Sammaan by Kala Sanskriti.
Anil’s training began at the tender age of 5 under his father Lt. Shri Kashi Nath Mishra, while ten generations in his family have been practitioners of Indian classical music. Anil’s entire life revolves around music and his dedication to the field is incomparable.
His list of achievements has the capacity to leave one awe inspired. From working as Sarangi accompanist in Kalashram Kathak Institure of Pt. Birju Maharaj to singing for films including Amu, Deshwa and Naya Pata, from composing music for short films to performing with stalwarts like Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt. Girija Devi, Smt.Sunanda Sharma, the list goes on endlessly.
Anil believes that he is still a student and learns from everything and everybody he encounters in his life. For him joining the field of music never came as a surprise. Accompanying his father to musical shows as a kid, he always knew what his calling was. His approach to music is rather extraordinary. While on the one hand pleasing the audience is one of the goals that he keeps in mind while playing the Sarangi, deriving self satisfaction and a sense of happiness occupies the primary position when it comes to music.
